• Get your beauty sleep. Our bodies need 7 to 8 hours of quality sleep every night. When we don’t sleep enough, we look haggard. Too little sleep can harm our bodies and health and may contribute to weight gain. I know I look 5 years older when I don’t get a good night's sleep and don’t wake up feeling rested. For a beauty bonus, take power naps whenever possible. Just 10 minutes of napping keeps your mind and body alert and makes you look relaxed and calm.
• Drink lots of pure water. I can't stress enough how much water does for your skin, energy levels and organs. I drink at least 3 liters (a little more than 3 quarts) a day. Water is great for losing weight. It satisfies you and makes you feel full without adding any calories. Water also benefits your skin. Remember that you also get water from foods and, of course, from tea or any other beverages you drink.
• Don't skip meals. Eat 3 well-balanced meals a day. When you don’t eat meals, your body thinks it is being starved and slows down your metabolism, so you store fats you would normally burn. To prevent this fat-storage effect, eat 3 times a day and make dinner your smallest meal.
• Get your Omega-3 fats. If you don't like to eat fish rich in these fatty acids, other sources include flaxseeds, walnuts and canola oil.
• Exercise! Just get your body moving. Your exercise routine should suit you so you stay motivated and inspired. Find activities you love and get in the routine. The right time for exercise is anytime you feel you have the energy or anytime you want an energy boost. Try a new activity or hobby and do something you enjoy every day. Make it right for you!
• Be happy. Physically and emotionally, happiness makes you look beautiful as well as being at peace within yourself. Happiness is beautiful on anybody and it shows in your eyes!
